Ruddy Racing is proudly based at Dartbrook Downs in the heart of the Hunter Valley — a world-class training environment that allows Liam Ruddy and his team to prepare horses with precision, care, and consistency.

The facilities at Dartbrook Downs provide access to the same level of infrastructure used by leading Australian stables, giving every horse the best possible foundation to develop, perform, and recover.

Training Facilities

Purpose-Built Training Track
The property features a deep sand training track of approximately 1,000 metres, supported by an extensive irrigation system. This allows the surface to be adjusted daily to suit individual training programs, whether horses require softer conditioning work or stronger gallops.

Yards & Stabling
Horses are accommodated in a combination of spacious yards with attached stables, promoting both mental wellbeing and physical comfort. This setup allows horses to relax, move freely, and maintain routine — a key focus of Liam’s training philosophy.

Advanced Conditioning Equipment
Ruddy Racing has access to a range of specialised conditioning and rehabilitation tools, including:

High-speed treadmill for controlled fitness development
Water walker for low-impact conditioning and recovery
Swimming and aquaciser access to maintain fitness while reducing strain

These facilities allow training programs to be tailored to each horse, particularly during rehabilitation, pre-training, or between campaigns.

Spelling & Turnout Paddocks
Secure, steel-railed spelling paddocks are available on the property, providing a safe and relaxed environment for horses enjoying time out or transitioning between preparations.

Full Training

Ruddy Racing offers a comprehensive full-training service, with every horse managed under an individualised program designed to suit its age, ability, and stage of preparation.

Each horse in the stable benefits from a structured, hands-on approach that covers all aspects of care and race preparation, including:

Tailored daily training programs specific to each horse
Education and development of young and inexperienced horses
Preparation for provincial and metropolitan racing
Strategic race planning and placement

Additional Services

Ready-to-Race Selection & Preparation
Alongside race training, Liam undertakes a very small number of Ready-to-Race projects each year. This service is offered on a selective basis and focuses on careful selection, correct education, and professional preparation of horses for the Ready-to-Race sales, with an emphasis on soundness, temperament, and presentation.
